Our MissionOur goal is to provide support when life-altering circumstances lead to inadequate housing. We target community service leaders in the hope to relieve their burden, so they can in turn be more effective at what they do. By providing a team oriented environment everyone has an opportunity to learn, mentor and give.
|
Our ImpactCompassion is contagious. As volunteers improve the living conditions of families, they look out to the surrounding community, offer support, and build unity of purpose.

Why We're Different
We are empowering youth, young adults, and whole communities to build, apply, and live a life of compassion.
We provide willing hearts the connection to create teams and learn skills from one another that last a lifetime. We serve those who have invested their lives to the community, and, despite all they have given to others, find themselves lacking adequate housing. |
|
CharitableWe listen to individual's needs, share their story, and gather a networked team who freely give of themselves and their resources to provide adequate housing to community leaders. In addition, tangible needs are provided for within each recipients community. Bringing people together is what Building Compassion is all about.
|
EducationalWe provide the opportunity for youth and young adults to work alongside contractors and skilled laborers. Many of these volunteers have not been given the opportunity to receive any vocational training. They are rewarded with valuable practical skills, hands-on experience, self confidence, and the knowledge that they can make a difference in the lives of others.
|
ReligiousBuilding Compassion gives from the heart with love of God, meeting people's needs as Jesus reached out and did. Volunteers are His hands extended because "He was moved with compassion" for those around Him in need.
|
ScientificVolunteers are afforded a unique opportunity to work in teams to complete specific tasks. They receive exposure to planning, materials acquisition, scheduling, supervision, safety and the basics of a construction science.

Our Work
How We Build Compassion
Haiker FamilyFamily of 8,
the Haiker’s foster to adopt. Due to shifting foundation, pipes burst and flooded the little girl’s bedroom. We provided new flooring throughout the house and repaired the damaged walls. |
Nelson FamilyBecky Nelson opens her
home to international students who attend Texas A&M University. She provides meals, entertains & educates through friendship ministry. |
Randolph Family
Rodeo chaplains, Mike & Rosemary take to the road and bring church to the prairie. They decided to make a difference to those around them in the cowboy culture. Their hundred year old house wasn’t level and without central air & heat.

Tiny Homes Lead to Big Growth
BUILDING THE FUTURE
In 2020 we are going big with tiny homes! This fundraising campaign is to provide sustainable income for Building Compassion. Volunteers are giving their time, businesses are giving materials, and investors are empowering us to construct tiny homes to build our future. Selling tiny homes is just the beginning. |
Tiny HomesOur first tiny home was completed and sold on the market in 2019. However, this is only step one. The big vision is greater than one simple home. We have been investing in operating expenses, support staff & the purchase of another trailer. This will set the stage for the next tiny home to be built.
|
Sustainability
So what makes this plan sustainable? On the land adjacent to our headquarters, we will add a small tiny home community. This will consist of a few of our own tiny homes to rent and a few spaces for individuals to rent to place their tiny homes. The rent from this community will provide a monthly income for general operating expenses.

YouEverything you donate has a
greater return as we reach to provide sustainable income for Building Compassion & growth for the years to come. |

Meet Our Latest Recipient - The Rabiu FamilyHannah Rabiu has served the body of Christ for decades through her work in international missions, and now in her local Austin community through an organization called Wholehearted & Courageous where she oversees training of local leaders, helps with the facilitation of community classes, and helps teach women who are experiencing grief and trauma how to heal. Her heart is to empower and equip women in developing nations because of her deep belief that when women are given opportunities, families and communities thrive.

She met her husband, who was from Nigeria, in China. A few years ago he tragically passed away, leaving her as a young widow to raise their 3 beautiful daughters ages 7, 4, 4. Sowing into her life would mean that you are helping to alleviate the financial and emotional stress of daily life. Repairing her fence, planting food garden beds, and privacy trees in her backyard would mean that her kids could play outside safely and that the produce from the garden would provide nutrition as well as cut down food expenses.
Join the TeamThere are many ways you can impact the world around you, but linking arms with us could be the place where you belong. Together we can have continuing and spreading results by empowering people who are already giving to the community around them. You can give time, supplies, and financial resources. The key word is you.
